OMG…. stories of this ilk make me angry. I have an obscene amount of patience for front-line workers, having been a fast-food worker, a waitress, a video rental girl, a cashier, a receptionist, a phone operator, etc. I know what it’s like to cop attitude from patrons for things that are “out of my control”. But what’s sooo annoying is how structurally inefficient these big corporations are. I’ve encountered the same types of issues over and over again, with phone companies, cable companies, banks, internet providers, etc. I can tell you right now there is some way to have your data removed from the system, you just have to take it through the proper channels. Crommo is so right – the squeaky wheel always gets the grease. You don’t necessarily have to be rude, you just have to be insistent. If you push hard enough, you’ll get your way. It just sucks that it has to reach that point where you basically have to be an a**hole to get the matter resolved. That teller totally should’ve referred you to her supervisor instead of just leaving it. It makes the folks at NAB look pretty incompetent.

I’d rather not know. I’m weird like that. Like Karl. I don’t remember the last time I watched the news. I’m aware that it’s fundamentally a bit silly. But I’m happy.

ANZ sucks noodles as well, eh Blobs? What is it with banks anyway? You and I should open our own bank! A paperless one that’s all futuristicky and has a state-of-the-art detention centre where the children are kept in place with magnets. Magnets. Always with the magnets.

Funnily enough, Hooly, my Dad once referred to an account my mum had as a “slush fund”. Must be old people talk or something.

My parents rate the Bendigo bank, but to be honest, it’s the same as the C.W. bank, just with less atms and a more trustworthy country vibe. I was never really fussed with banks, I left my $ with the CW purely out of the CBF factor. But I’ve been convinced in them. I have to say my local CW branch is AWESOME. They not only all remember I’m a music teacher- (this is before I’ve swiped any identification and that sort of thing where all my info comes up on the screen) they also come up with cool ways for me to milk the bank, eg. moving 500 from account a to account b will mean extra interest or some shit, or how to automatically STOP GETTING LETTERS and move everything to email or Netbank. Very cool. So I don’t get any letters from CW for any reason. But I don’t really care about those trees because they’re probably just pine ones grown to die. Like Steggles chickens.

And I bet you can have your details removed from the system if you went higher. Huff and puff and ask to speak to the manager. That’s what whingey heads do at Gold Class and it always works.

Cool story! My Ma was in a similar situation as you but she didn’t resolve it. So she still has the account from when she was a kid. It’s with ANZ. She calls it her ’slush fund’ which I guess is a dated reference to some kind of money laundering…
